6th cycle of the Supplemental Feeding program

September 2016

           In answer to MDG #1, Eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, the 6th cycle of the Supplemental Feeding program of the LGU, a breakthrough of the DSWD, was launched last September 20, 2016 at the Municipal Covered Court. Day Care Children from the 17 Day Care Centers were encouraged to simultaneously eat a full meal.

          The Municipal Nutrition Council, Municipal Officials, Barangay Officials, DCW’s and Day Care Children with their parents graced the occasion.

Balik-Loob Program and Bahay Pagbabago officially launched

         The Reformation Center dubbed as Bahay Pagbabago was officially launched in the LGU sometime in September 2016 to give temporary shelter and rehabilitate drug users and dealers who have surrendered to the police. This rehabilitation facility is in res­ponse to the challenge posed by the number of surrenderers who had volunteered to undergo reform to be free from illegal drug use.

            The Balik-loob program provides the most comprehensive family and values oriented treatment program for individuals who have engaged in illegal drugs activities. Under the program, surrenderees undergo a comprehensive reformation training wherein they are treated as patients instead of law offenders. The program also provides them the opportunity to learn new ways of clean living through livelihood trainings, which are done in partnership with the Provincial Anti-Drug Reduction Convenors, the LGU and support government agencies like TESDA.

Last October 21, 2016, the first batch of surrenderees graduated from the program.

VOW-GSS Training for LGU Employees conducted

             The Local Government Unit conducted a two-day live-out seminar on Values Orientation Workshop and Gender Sensitivity Seminar last September 21-22, 2016 at the Pura Training Center.

            The VOW, according to CSC, is designed for first-level and second-level employees that capitalizes on adult learning process that includes activity analysis, abstraction and application. This course promotes values clarification and commitment to one’s set of positive values for setting of action plans geared towards effectiveness and productivity, while the Gender sensitivity seminar aims to promote awareness on gender needs and equality among both sexes as well as address gender gaps/issues/concerns and stereotyped images of women.
