The MSWDO successfully conducted the Moving-Up ceremony of the Day Care Children in the 17 Day Care Centers.
It was a jam-packed activity attended by the day care children, parents, barangay and municipal officials. The ceremony depicted the celebration of the first ladder of the educational pursuit of the young “Puranians” that helps them to appreciate the value of education and character formation as well.
Mr. Jayson Sudla, a Registered Social Worker and a former scholar of the LGU served as the Guest Speaker of the moving-up ceremony who congratulated the graduates and challenged the parents to support their children in pursuing their dreams, most especially in finishing their studies.
A million worth project subsidized by the DILG-Performance Challenge Fund was entrusted to the Singat Primary School under the DepEd Pura District by the Department of Interior and Local Government Regional Director represented by the DILG Provincial Director Araceli San Jose. PD San Jose explained in her message that the LGU was granted with the PCF in recognition of its commendable performance in running and managing government affairs in the light of upholding the tenets of transparency and accountability. The LGU was conferred with the incentive fund being a recipient of the Seal of Good Housekeeping-Silver Category.
The municipal and barangay officials were all elated that prominent officials went personally to hand-over the 2-Clasroom Building made possible thru the PCF Grant.
PD San Jose was accompanied by Pura MLGOO Omar James N. Gabriel during the activity.
The Bureau of Fire Protection celebrates Fire Prevention Month with the theme: “Kaligtasan sa Sunog Alamin, Gawin at Isabuhay Natin.” The month-long celebration kicked-off with a Mass officiated by Fr. Jonas Agustin at the Pura Covered Court followed by a very short program. It was attended by the BFP Personnel from the different fire stations in the Province which was spearheaded by Fire Provincial Marshall Chief Inspector Mary Anthonette Buenconsejo who happened to be a resident of Brgy. Maasin.
A motorcade within the Province of Tarlac came shortly after the program.
Commencement exercises of the Department of Agriculture’s Farmer Field School (FFS) on Corn Production was held on March 25, 2015 at the Pura Training Center graced by no less than the dynamic Vice-Governor of the Province, VG Kit Cojuangco. The said activity spearheaded by the Municipal Agriculture Office was attended by farmers from Brgy. Estipona and Brgy. Poroc.
Mayor Concepcion A. Zarate launched the quarterly meeting of the Local Health Board and initiated the creation of Health Board in the 16 Barangays. During her visit at the grassroots, she explained the relevance of having a dynamic health board that seeks to look after the health and wellness of the people.
During quarterly meetings of the LHB, the Rural Health Unit is directed to report on the status of implementation of health services in the municipality as well as present an inventory of diseases and health problems that has affected the municipality for the quarter. On the other hand, Mayor Zarate discusses the innovations in health governance during meetings. This is a part of her learning being a student of the Health Governance Academy for LCE’s and a sharing of her expertise as a renowned OB-Gyne.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) formerly NSO with the Local Civil Registry Offices nationwide celebrates the annual Civil Registration Month. This year’s theme is "SAMA KA SA CRVS GROUPIE" which highlights the significance of civil registration in the lives of the Filipinos. It also reminds the public especially the parents, records officers, midwives and those people who are in attendance at birth that registration of such event is mandatory and it is their primary responsibility to enter the correct data in the document such as the Certificate of Live Birth.
One of the highlights of the year’s celebration is the Poster Making contest held at the PSA Provincial Office. ROWEL MEJIA, a Pura Central High School student won second place in the said event.
“Local Governments must learn to establish links with national and international partners to work out agreements that will guarantee influx of financial and technical assistance to augment the existing resources of the local governments in delivering sufficient services to the people with the mission of improving the living condition of the people.” These are the words of Vice-President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay during his visit in the municipality.
VP Binay was welcomed by the LCE, Vice-Mayor and SB Members, Barangay Officials, Municipal Officials and employees and thousands of Puranian Citizens at the Covered Court. Everyone was very elated of this Vice-Presidential visit.
Training intended to capacitate Agricultural Extension Workers, farmer leaders, fruit and vegetable growers and other LGU employees in adapting Good Agricultural Practices was successfully conducted in the municipality.
This activity is initiated to address the main challenges of agriculture in the 21st century; 1) To improve food security, rural livelihoods and income; 2) To satisfy the increasing and diversified demands for safe food and other products; and, 3) To conserve and protect natural resources.
